Welcome to the Gulch!

Hello, come right in and make yourself comfortable .  I wasn’t really expecting company, as you can see, but now that you’re here you might as well stay a while, right?

Take your shoes off, please, and–careful!–watch your head.  Yes, I know, the inscription there IS a little low.  I’ve been meaning to get to that.  But there are so many other things going on…

I’m surprised you found us.  We’re a little hidden here.  We have to be, kind of, after the election, you know.  Things didn’t go so well, at least for most of us in the Gulch.

So what’s the Gulch, you say?  Here it is, look around.  No no… not behind that door.

After the last presidential election, it became clear things were heading in the wrong direction.  It became clear that things most of us here value in government, such as low taxation, fiscal responsibility, national security, were taking a run through the wood-chipper.  People like Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber, average, blue-collar folks who had some sense about what’s wrong with government and it’s imposing size, were villified as if they were the personification of evil.

The Gulch is here to fight against the creeping–and recently, not so creeping–statism we see around us now.  We are here to get the word out that Trillion-dollar ditch-digging programs do not generate prosperity.  That the leeches and looters of society should not grow at the expense of the builders and producers.

The key to this struggle, we believe, is the internet, and blogs in particular.  As displayed in this last election cycle, the mainstream media cannot be counted on to provided credible and impartial analysis of the current issues that face us.  The only solutions for those of us favoring liberty and limited government is to take up the fight ourselves, and much like the founding fathers at their very own printing presses, to call out to our fellow citizens and make our arguments to them.

If you feel the same, please stay.  We need your help.  This will be a very long struggle, and with the help of the internet and blogs, the average American now has the opportunity to be heard as never before.

So grab one of those chairs over there.  Sure that one, and put your feet up.  Let me get you a drink.  I think you’ll like it here.

And yes, we do get some very nice sunsets over that ridge, by the way.
