From Ace of Spades, there’s a link to the Zombietime blog with one particular article of interest.
This article has excerpts from a book John Holdren, Obama’s science czar, co-authored in the 70′s, which apparently suggests there should be some very radical approaches taken to curb the population bomb… something that in the 70′s was purported to be heading us down the path of the LAST DAYS. You know, mass starvation, wars over limited resources, soylent green, that sort of thing.
In a book Holdren co-authored in 1977, the man now firmly in control of science policy in this country wrote that:
• Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not;
• The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation’s drinking water or in food;
• Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise;
• People who “contribute to social deterioration” (i.e. undesirables) “can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility” — in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized.
• A transnational “Planetary Regime” should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans’ lives — using an armed international police force.
It’s a long piece, and well worth the read. Included are scans of the original book, for those who will claim that it’s a fake. And even if you don’t read the whole thing, it’s worth glancing through just to have a good look at who’s running the country now, thank you idiot 52% who don’t know anything or follow the news.
For me, this brings three things to mind.
First, is he going to be called on this at all? I mean, if Cheney turned out to be a former member of the Klan or something, I’ve got a sneaky suspicion he’d be asked, you know, what’s up? Right? Like, Hey, Vice President Cheney, are you really into burning crosses and lynching and stuff? How about, Hey, Mr. Holdren, do you really feel that laws requiring compulsory abortions could really be sustained under the Constitution, like your books says?
Doesn’t seem tough, if you’re into that journalism thing and all. I’d like to get up and ask that question. At the very least, it would get a funny face from him.
Two, it really shows the state of science in our country today. I’m sorry… it’s run by a lot of overly political extremist refugees from the past who are only into saving the planet from imaginary demons or folks who are so beholden to regular government checks they couldn’t produce unbiased science to save their souls that don’t exist.
This guy is our science czar, for goodness sake, whatever a science czar is. Not long ago he was so worked up about the population problem that he was willing to advocate force, in a variety of different expressions, to keep it from happening. Now everyone’s all worked up about global warming. Is this the kind of person we want making decisions about the future of our country when it comes to a global warming menace that’s as likely as his population bomb?
Third, it kind of shows what kind of folks Obama has surrounding him when a cracked vase like Holdren here isn’t considered the craziest of the bunch.
“A new dawn of American leadership is at hand,” Obama said.
He he….. Yeah.
